I grew up in England surrounded by family that enjoyed all kinds of crafts.  My Mum and Grandmothers had tried their hands at virtually every craft you can name and as a child I enjoyed learning from them. Quilting was not something I had tried, although my Mum always had a Welsh Quilt on her bed made by her grandmother.  My husband’s Grandmother and Aunt introduced me to quilting in about 2005 and the rest is history.

It didn’t take me long to realise that I loved piecing quilts, but my real interest lay in quilting and how simple quilt tops were utterly transformed by the quilting stitches.

I bought my first longarm quilting machine in October 2009 and have quilted for customers ever since.  I have been fortunate to be able to travel to America to learn from their expert Longarm quilters on three occasions and my studio has expanded to accommodate a second, computerised machine.

I started Quiltastix (named by my daughter Amy, because quilting is Fantastix) in 2010 and have been the Sole Distributor of Handi Quilter machines and products since 2013.  If you are looking for my online store please visit www.handiquiltersa.com

My goal is to spread the word about Longarm quilting in South Africa, offer tuition and resources to improve skills and provide an online store where quilters can buy products not available elsewhere.
