Education is the key to enjoying freemotion quilting of any kind.  Whether you have a longarm machine or are just using your domestic machine, if you know what you are trying to achieve the process so getting there will be so much more enjoyable!

When I bought my first longarm machine there was no training available locally.  My learning curve was steep but based on trial and error and what I could learn from books.  I have been extremely fortunate to be able to go to machine quilting shows in America a number of times and take classes from some of the best quilter in the world.  Unfortunately that’s not possible for everyone, but I’m now confident enough in my own abilities to be able to pass them on to you.

I have been writing articles for South Africa’s Stitches magazine for a while now and the editors have kindly agreed to let me load PDF files of each article here, so if you missed the original magazine, you can still have access to the information.  As I continue to contribute to the magazine, articles will be posted here but make sure to keep you eyes open for the latest edition of Stitches to make sure you don’t miss out on anything!
